Spanish international player Yasir Ali and the Swedish based cricket company Scandi Cricket have mutually agreed a major sponsorship deal that will see Yasir using Scandi products in the near future for all competitions.
The deal was brokered after Scandi Cricket’s founder Wynand Boshoff watched the ECN livestream of Yasir’s recent performances in T20I matches in Croatia. He was particularly impressed with his efforts in game one when the Spanish all-rounder scored 41 off 35 balls and took six wickets for 28 runs in a devastating spell of spin bowling.
Wynand contacted Cricket España and after negotiations an agreement was put in place with the up and coming Nordic Brand. On completion of the deal Boshoff commented:
“Cricket Spain has shown big strides in their growth and commitment to the sport. Scandi Cricket have noticed the high standards and professionalism, and we really wanted to be part of this, especially with Yasir as our representative”
Hopefully, this is the start to a much bigger and brighter collaboration between all parties involved”
We are excited to see the calm and humble Yasir BE BOLD with his new Scandi cricket equipment”
Spanish team coach Corey Rutgers was equally excited with the new established connection. He quipped, “Another Spanish player receiving full sponsorship shows the eyes that are on España cricket right now, and great reward for the talented national group especially Yasir. He is an extremely humble person and has worked hard at his trade. I could not be happier for this partnership to begin and I am excited to watch Scandi Cricket grow with him”
Yasir made his debut for Spain in the ICC tournament in Holland in 2018 and he has been an integral part of the National set up ever since. Being the 62nd Spaniard to gain an official cap he is also one of the longest serving players. On securing the new deal Yasir smiled with joy when stating “I am feeling very proud and happy that Scandi Cricket want to represent me, thank you to Coach Rutgers, management and all involved for the continued support and I am very excited for this new partnership”
Yasir will be using the new Scandi products in the forthcoming ICC Europe event inGuernsey later this month. Scandi are classified as a ICC approved company, and their vision is to become one of the go-to options for the majority of players for cricket equipment in Europe.
Despite being based and having their hub in this continent they are also ambitious to be players on the main stage. To that end they have recently started sponsoring the Ugandan international Simon Ssezazi.
He was part of the squad that recently participated in the ICC 2024 World Cup, andopened the batting and kept wicket in all of their four group stage matches, including their historic first ever T20 World Cup win over Papua New Guinea.
