Batting first in the 45 over game Spain posted a total of 165 for seven from their allocated overs. Menorca batsman Julian Hagger was the mainstay of the innings hitting over half the teams runs.

He ended unbeaten on 85 not out but was well supported by four of his team mates in secondary roles, who all managed to advance into double figures.

In reply, the Dutch were bowled out for 134 in the 37th over. Hagger was as effective with the ball as he was with the bat, bagging four wickets for an outstanding man of the match performance.

Spain have two more 45 over games to play against the U.K and the hosts, as well as a round robin T20 over competition against the other three nations during a week of intense cricket.
