Sevilla Cricket Club hosted its first visiting team this 4 November: the Chilean Exiles!

Playing with adapted indoor rules on a fronton court in blustery conditions, the locals emerged triumphant in the opening match after a nail-biting finish. Sevilla opened the batting and posted a meritorious 148 off their 10 overs (Alex 25 retired), with extras proving costly for the visitors. Harry A (retired 27) got the Exiles off to a strong start, but the run rate kept creeping up and the visitors looked to be out of the race until a late thrash by Lawrence (retired 39) and Harry D (24 n.o.), which saw them come up only one run short after a dramatic runout on the last ball.

Match 2 (8 overs) saw the tables turn as the Exiles put in a very tidy bowling and fielding effort to roll Sevilla for a measly 67 runs, with Nick and Sean chasing it down for the Exiles with balls to spare.

With time running out, a quick 5-over decider was played to finish off. By now the Sevilla bowlers had found their line and Akasa and Asif took some handy wickets to help restrict the Exiles to 63, with Nick (retired 26) featuring once again with the bat. However, this total proved to be insufficient and Sevilla comfortably chased it down in the last over, allowing them to claim victory and take the series 2-1.

All in all it was a really enjoyable morning with a great bunch of people and we look forward to playing the return leg!

Sevilla Cricket Club recibió este 4 de noviembre a su primer equipo visitante: ¡los Exiliados Chilenos!

Jugando con reglas adaptadas en una cancha de frontón con bastante viento, los locales salieron triunfantes en el partido de apertura después de un final ajustadísimo. Sevilla abrió el bateo y logró un meritorio 148 en sus 10 overs (Alex 25 retirado). Luego Harry A (27 retirado) dio a los Exiliados un buen comienzo con el bateo, pero el ritmo siguió subiendo. Parecía que los visitantes no tenían opciones hasta que una secuencia frenética en los últimos overs por parte de Lawrence (39 retirados) y Harry D (24 n.o.) los acercó a sólo una carrera del total de Sevilla después de un dramático runout en la última bola.

Las cosas cambiaron en el segundo partido (8 overs). Los Exiliados fueron mucho más ordenados con el boleo y en la cancha y el Sevilla sucumbió por sólo 67 carreras. Luego al bateo Nick y Sean lo conseguieron para los Exiliados con bolas de sobra.

Con el tiempo agotándose, se organizó un partido rápido de 5 overs para terminar. Los boleadores del Sevilla ya habían encontrado su línea y Akasa y Asif tomaron unos wickets claves para ayudar a restringir a los Exiliados a 63, con Nick (retirado 26) destacando una vez más con el bate. Sin embargo, este total resultó ser insuficiente y el Sevilla lo consiguió cómodamente en el último over, lo que les permitió alzarse con la victoria y ganar la serie por 2-1.

En resumen, fue una mañana muy agradable con un gran grupo de personas y estamos deseando jugar la vuelta…
