La Manga Torrevieja V Madrid CC (ECCL 40 overs LM)

April 22, 2024

And that concludes our first 40 over league game!

After a fine performance on the field keeping Madrid CC to 197. LMTCC claimed all 5 bowling points whilst Madrid got 3 batting points.

Stand out performance with the ball came from C. Wood who got 4 wickets for 39 runs of his 8 overs, M. Wilson-Pestel bowled a brilliant 8 over spell for 30 runs. 3 run outs from A.Court, D.Scott and G.Singh helped with the wickets.

Onto the batting, D. Mcclements opened with K. Wood but D. Mcclements fell caught in the 7th over and Ab. Hussain fell bowled 2 balls later.

T. Knowles in at 4 but was bowled a couple of overs later with the score at 35/3 off 10.

G. Singh came in at 5 and built a steady partnership with K.Wood worth 36 off 5 overs before G.Singh hit the ball to the fielder at Deep Mid-Wicket. 71/4 off 16.

Another 30 partnership grew when P. Singh came in to bat which took the score to 103/5 off 20 overs. Half way through the runs, half way through the overs, but also half way through the wickets. Anyones game

C. Wood came in at 7 and hit 2 boundaries but was stumped without any further contribution. 119/6 off 26 with K.Wood still battling on 48* but running out of batters

P. Harvey came in at 8 as K. Wood scored LMTCCs first 40 over league half Century but more wickets fell on the other end as P. Harvey, A. Court and D. Scott all fell in the period of 2 overs. 131/9 with 10 overs remaining and K. Wood on 54*.

M. Wilson-Pestel was the no.11 with 1 objective, Survive.

M. Wilson-Pestel faced a valuable 13 dot balls whilst K.Wood took the attack to the Madrid Bowlers hitting 33 runs from 18 deliveries bringing the score up to 166/9 off 35 overs.

Eventually the end of the innings came to a close as a full toss had K. Wood top edge to the Madrid Captain. A fine knock off 87 but unfortunately the LMTCC side fell 32 runs short of the target as Madrid CC Claim 18 points from the win and LMTCC take 8 points from the loss.

K. Wood with his new high score of 87, a stumping and a catch was enough to be your LMTCC player of the match.

G.Singh with 28 off 20 deserves a mention but M. Wilson-Pestel's survival helped bring the game as close as it was.
