In the first GPL match Girona Warriors beat their arch rivals Girona CC by 110 runs. In their 25 overs the Warriors amassed 193 for 8. Pick of the batting was Nadeem Raja, who made a quickfire 57 from just 21 balls in an innings that included several huge sixes.
Arguably the Warriors most consistent player Muneeb Dar also contributed with a fine half century and debutant Nazim Bhai showed huge promise with the bat with well cultured knock of 29 runs.
However, it was his bowling that really caught the eye, as his pace and bounced suprised all the Girona batsman. He was well supported by Aqtadar Iqbal Khan who got five wickets, and Muneeb Dar chipped in with two, as Girona were bowled out for just 83 runs in 13 overs.
Warriors can be proud of a great team performance and a special mention goes to the tournament organisers for creating such a well managed event.
