VALENCIA GREEN START SEASON WITH A WIN

VALENCIA GREEN DIG IN TO CLAIM WIN 

Mojacar CC faced Valencia Green in their second league game of the season.

After winning the toss Mojacar chose to bat. TheValenciagreen bowlers opened with some quick if wayward bowling, allowing the Mojacar batsmen to take their time and maintain a good run rate.

  The run out of K.Rose saw a change in the bowlers accuracy, and when Abbas was bowled by Asad the game saw a period of parity.

  Opening batsmen P.beal and J.Rose then put on a steady 60 run partnership before Rose was given out lbw to Gulzar.

  Wickets then fell regularly, and at 136 for 8ValenciaGreen had their eyes on ending the Mojacar innings for under 150.

  A partnership of 40 runs between S.Lewis( 47 no) and D.Redpath (10no) saw Mojacar to a modest target of 176.

  In reply Valencia Green looked to press on towards the total in confident style, but the Mojacar bowlers had other ideas.

  In P.Beals first over he had Bhatti cought behind, and T.Vollans claimed the wicket of Nisar in his second over. This left Valencia Green at 9 for 2. A partnership of 25 between Usman and A. Abbas took the score to 34 for 2, but Beal in the middle of an impressive spell claimed the next three wickets to leave Valencia Green in trouble at 52 for 5.

 J.Rose then removed Awan with score on 63, and Mojacar appeared to be on top.

  Valencia Green saw things differently and with some sensible batting mixed with some big hitting Assad Abbas and R.Amin brought the game home. Credit goes to Valencia Green for winning the game. While Mojacar will have to look back at some pretty average bowling in the middle part of the innings.
