VALENCIA GREEN AND LA MANGA BOTH WIN
Valencia Green and La Manga both registered wins this weekend, albeit in diffirent ways, to continue to put pressure on Sporting Alfas and ensure all three teans continue to have a say in this years Costa Blanca League 1 Divisional title.
Valencia Green waited patiently for a Valencia team that failed to turn up for the game, nd consequently Green were awarded a 17 point victory, with Valencia receiving minus 10 points and 200 euro costs for their no show.
La Manga played and beat Madrid convincingly. Ironically, Madrid´s scheduled game with Albox on the Saturday had been called off earlier in the week, as Albox were unable to muster a team.
Instead Madrid played the Spanish Under 17 squad in a friendly, as they were having their final get together at La Manga, before departing for the ICC Europe Division 2 Under 17 tournament in La Manga later this month.
La Manga play Sporting Alfas at the Woodbridge Oval next weekend in a fixture that is eagerly waited by all involved in Spanish cricket. Both teams include Spanish internationals, and should go a long way to determine which of the two teams will be in pole position to claim the divisional title next year.
Many thanks to George Wambeek for the match report and scorecards on the La Manga v Madrid game.
Costa Blanca Cricket League Played at La Manga.
Madrid CC 65 all out v La Manga CC 67-0
La Manga CC still well in the charge of the Costa Blanca cricket league campaign played on the Sunday the 11th July and well Sponsored by Murcia Villas saw La Manga CC thrashed a Madrid X1 that was depleted because of Spanish football should have stayed in Madrid City, They won the toss and elected to bat first against a fearsome bowling attack of La Manga CC which there opening batsman found out very quickly when they lost there 1st wicket for 1 run and from then on Iqbal and Talat dominated the attack with the odd edge going to the boundary as the field placing that was set for these two Bowlers were 8-2 by the La Manga Captain for 14 over spell.
In came the 2nd change bowlers after the drinks break when the score was 55-3 and with Garside bowling 2 over’s for 3 wickets and farhat 1 over for 3 wickets while he was on a hat trick as well in this over to have Madrid all out for a mere 65 runs all out.The last 6 wickets fell on 65.
In Turn La Manga opening batsman saw of the Madrid bowling attack which was not very affective against the La Manga batting pair and got the 67 runs in 7 overs,a very convincing win and 20 points for la Manga Club, Next week we take on Alfaz CC on the Saturday starting at 1pm in Alfaz del Pi.
