TORREVIEJA V PINATAR PIRATES II (LEAGUE)

by: conrad_a_bedford

After another long week of searching and asking everyone, Torre had 11 players. until the the day before when 2 people were forced to drop out leaving Torre without a full team for the second week in a row. Pinatar travelled to Torre once again knowing what to expect from the ground but some hard work the day before and in the morning saw some major improvements in the wicket from the week before.

Continuing his good league form, K.Wood WON the toss and decided to bowl first.

S.Khan and C.Wood opened the bowling and celebrations were in Torre’s favour straight away when S.Khan bowled out Abbas in his second over. But it was Pinatar that took control of the game after when Gopi and Bittu held their bats and took the fight to the bowlers with boundaries coming of every over. A couple of bowling changes saw R.Maini and P.Singh come on to bowl and both kept their heads on and bowled some good lines. P.Singh causing some problems and forcing some causing some problems and forcing some catching chances not being taken by WK K.Wood but eventually got his man when a wide short ball was nicked and K.Wood eventually got his catch. The score went from 13/1 to a very good 86/2 from 10 overs.

But P.Singh carried on bowling some great lines and got the wicket of Vikash, Sukhi and and Dilpreet all LBW in the following overs and a good ball to bowl out Sukhjant and changed the game dramatically. Needing to find some overs from somewhere Z.Ishaq had a bowl and although bowled some very good balls, there were just as many bad balls that got punished. Soon being replaced by P.Harvey to try stop the run Rate, and bowled some great lines to stop bounadries and claimed himself a wicket.

R.Maini coming on for his second spell claimed his wicket of G.Singh who had made a very good 50 but ended up trying to play one big shot to many and top edged the ball high in the air for K.Wood to run under and take the catch. R.Maini also had a chance to take another wicket when he got Vikash Singh II to smash the ball to C.Wood at covers who dropped the catch but recovered quickly and earned himself a run out. S.Khan and C.Wood came back on to bowl to try take the last wicket but it took 6 overs to do so, eventually it was S.Khan who got Amrit to top edge the ball to R.Maini at gully but only after Amrit had some fun and smashed the ball around abit. But after what felt like a long innings, Pinatar finished 190 ALL OUT. P.Singh the main man with the ball taking 5 wickets for 30 runs in his 8 overs.

A quick break as everyone was in a rush. Many people needed to go work BUT many more wanting to Finish as quick as possible to watch the World Cup match later that afternoon. Torre opened the batting with S.Khan and Z.Ishaq and got off to a flyer when runs and bounadries flew across the park. 36 scored of 6 overs but the run of Z.Ishaq was ended when a good yorker from Amrit bowled him out. Couple overs later saw S.Khan’s innings end also when he was caught in the covers.

Out of Nowhere Clouds had covered the skies of Torrevieja and drops of rain fell from the sky. Hardly enough to call the game off but enough for Amrit’s bowling to cause even more Chaos when the ball started Swinging with the strong winds. the wickets fell very quickly and seemed like everyone wanted to go home to watch the football when P.Singh was caught, P.Harvey was bowled, R.Miani was Run out, C.Wood was bowled, G.Shelton was bowled and J.Singh was caught in 3 overs. After the fall of Z.Ishaq, only K.Wood found any runs being left at the crease on 9*.

Going 36/1 in the 7th over… Torre ended up 51/8 (All out) in the 13th over. Once again, the curse of the Torre Collapse in the middle order ended the innings but everyone got their wish and got to go home early and watch England play Sweden in the World Cup Quarter Final. A 2-0 win for england lifted the spirits of the Torre boys.

Torre still have fixtures for July as next week Torre travel to Bonalba Golf Resort to face Interllectuals in a friendly.

until then………..Hasta Luego !!!!!!!
