Madrid’s second XI travelled to the East Coast for two league match ups against Torrevieja and Intellectuals on consecutive days last weekend,
In the first of the encounters they came away with the spoils in Torrevieja. Batting first after being put in by the hosts the vistors managed 204 for 9 in their innings. Ed Hitchcock top scored with 60 for Madrid, whilst youngsters Ciaran Gulchard, Kieran Wood ans Michael Waring were amongst the wickets for Torrevieja.
In reply the home side fought gamely but were finally skittled out for 105. Vishav Shakur ended up undefeated on 30 whilst Joss Bancroft took three wickets for just two runs. Another notable mention with the ball was Liam Clarke, who took two wickets for just 21 runs to mop up the tail for the Madrid bowlers.
Madrid head to Bonalba tommorrow in the hope of competing a weekend double. Maximum of 24 points for Madrid whilst Torrevieja take 6 points from the game.
