Torrevieja continued their tremendous start to the season with a convincing eight wicket victory over Madrid II. Batting first the visitors struggled to post a competitive total and ended their innings 136 all out of just 39 overs.
Opener Ian Blake top scored with 35, and he was supported briefly by Seshut (25) but after that only two other batsmen managed to get double figures. H Ullah took four wickets and skipper Lee Brown bagged three for the Torrevieja bowling.
The hosts had little trouble in chasing down the Madrid total, with the innings of teenager Adam Algar the highlight of the day. Back in Spain after time in Lancashire the youngster hit a well-crafted 65 not out to help his team to a eight wicket victory. Simpson (30) and J Patel (26 not out) supported Algar well, after another teenager Kieron Wood had fallen early in the Torrevieja innings.
Torrevieja now have maximum points after two wins from two games and are the suprise early leaders at the top of ECCL Division Two. Madrid travel up the road to Alicante today to face the Intellectuals, whilst Sporting Alfas II host La Manga II in the other ECCL league fixture of the day.
