ECCL JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE – ROUND THREE
Torrevieja Juniors continue to hold a slender lead at the top of the ECCL Indoor Junior League heading into the Christmas break.
Game 13 saw Sporting Alfas beat La Manga Kings A relatively comfortably by 48 runs. Batting first Alfas scored 88 for 6 and in reply Kings managed 40 for the loss of no wicket from their over allocation.
Next up La Manga Kings B pulled off a bit of a shock by beating leaders Torrevieja by 7 wickets. Torrevieja’s 66 for 4 looked a challenging total but Kings knocked them off with ease for just the loss of one wicket.
Game 15 saw Torrevieja gain revenge by securing victory over La Manga Kings B in a low scoring game. Kings A mustered 45 for 4 and the batting of Torry easily surpassed the total for the loss of just one run.
Alfas put in their best performance of the day in the next match scoring 122 for 1 when batting first against La Manga Kings B. The latter batted courageously but fell 53 runs shy of their required total.
Game 17 was the much anticipated table topper between Torrevieja and Alfas. Both teams excelled in the batting department scoring over 100 runs each, but it was Torry who prevailed in the tight contest by just 10 runs.
The last match of the day was between both La Manga teams and it was Kings B who came out on top to the tune of 23 runs.
A Christmas break now ensures with the league starting back up again in early 2015.
