Torrevieja continue to keep pressure on La Manga II at the top of the ECCL Development League thanks to a convincing eight wicket victory over La Manga Kings.
Kings batted first and accrued a total of 132 for 6 from their over allocation. Most of the Kings batsmen got into double figures but none of them capitalised on their promising start. Torrevieja skipper Lee Brown took four wickets for the visitors despite a troublesome knee that could make him a doubt for the top of the table clash with La Manga II later this month.
Torrevieja had little trouble chasing down the Kings total despite a strong bowling attack that included Akash Panchal, who had played for La Manga II’s against the Kings the previous week.
Adam Algar cemented his fine run of form by following up his century against Sporting Alfas II with a sublime 90 not out for the Torrevieja cause. He was well supported by another teenager Michael Wareing who forged an unbeaten partnership with Algar to see the visitors home with eight wickets and numerous overs to spare.
Torrevieja still have La Manga II to play both and away and the Intellectuals are still in the mix for the ECCL Development League Title as the league reaches the business end of the season.
