After a defeat last time out to the Intellectuals Torrevieja got back on track with victory over Madrid CC to keep themselves well and truely in contention for the Division Two title.
Batting first after winning the toss Torrevieja scored 121 all out from just 40.4 overs. Openers Adam Algar and Ciaron Guichard started well enough, putting on 36 for the first wicket, but the introduction of Sarangapani stunted the Torrevieja run production and turned the match to the advantage of Madrid.
A final haul of five wickets for Sarangapani for just 35 runs was complemented by Babu at the other end (3-20) as Madrid went into the interval the happier of the two teams.
However, Madrid’s batting of late as struggled and today was no exception as the visitors were skittled out for just 58 in 33.4 overs. The opening batsmen for Torry, teenagers Adam Algar and Ciaron Guichard turned their hand even more successfully to bowling, as they took four and five wickets respectively.
The 63 run victory gave Torrevieja maximum points and left them just one point behind La Manga and Sporting Alfas at the top of the table as the race for Division Two bragging rights gets tighter and tighter.
