County cricket stars of the future coming to Spain
Eleven leading prospects from nine of the First Class English Counties will be coming to Spain on 13th February for an 8 day cricket camp which will end on Friday 21st February with a competitive game against a Spanish Select XI at La Manga Club.
This is the first intake from the Tom Maynard Trust which was established in 2013 in memory of Tom, a talented Surrey and England A cricketer who tragically died in June 2012.
The Tom Maynard Academy has been set up at Desert Springs Resort in Cuevas Del Almanzora, where new first class grass practice facilities will be used for the first time. Eleven of the most exciting prospects in English County Cricket will undertake a program of specialist technical and conditioning work, under the tutorage of some of the highest profile names in English cricket.
Lead by Tom’s father, Former England and Glamorgan player, Matt Maynard, the coaching team will also include former England International’s Paul Nixon, Jamie Dalrymple, Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey and former England physio Dean Conway.
From Desert Springs the Squad will travel to La Manga Club for a show case end to their camp against some of the best players from the Spanish ECCL League. This game will commence at 11am and will be a 40 over per side game which has been kindly sponsored by www.murciavillaslamanga.com .
Entry to the sports ground is free and there will be a refreshment stall providing drinks and snacks throughout the day.
