An unprecedented thirty two teams will participate in this years Cataluyna League. The group stages will consist of for groups of eight with the top two teams going through to a Super Eight series, a semi final and then a final with the winners being crowned the Champions of Cataluyna.
Four grounds will be used during the course of the season – Videres, Montjuic, Empuriabrava and Angles and it was the Barcelona based ground Montjuic that hosted the first game when Badalona Shaheen entertained Raval Sporting last weekend.
Raval Sporting elected to bat but could only make 100 from their allocation of overs. Saqib, Bittu, Ishan and Saju all got decent starts for Raval but failed to capitalise on that and make telling scores. For Shaheen Mustafa was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of three for 18.
In reply, Badalona had little difficulty in chasing down the total and did so with eight wickets in hand. Opener Sarmad was at the crease from start to finish, hitting 48 not out and his opening partner Bilawal also chipped in with thirty one runs.
