Cricket Espana, at the request of the local ayuntamiento, put on a demonstration of street cricket yesterday as part of the weekly fiestas in the small coastal village of Moraira.
As part of the fiestas the “Colegio de Verano” were introduced to different sports during the week and around 20 local boys and girls turned up to find out more about cricket.
Gabi Fagoaga, Scott Burchell, John Howden and Anita Dixon did a quick explanation of the basic rules of street cricket and demonstrated a game before quickly passing over to the youngsters to get involved in the sport.
Several youngsters who were passing by were sufficently intrigued to join in as the noise levels increased as the children got the hang of thr game and became more involved in the event.
The whole event was well received by the children and the town hall have requested that cricket participates in future fiestas during the rest of the year.
