St George Cricket Club remain on track for a Lanzarote League and T-Twenty double after a clinical victory over local rivals Puerto Del Carmen Cobras.
Batting first the Cobras posted a score of 133 for 8 from their twenty overs. Spanish Over 40 International Neil French and Des Stonier did the majority of the damage by taking three wickets apiece whilst V Singh top scored for the Cobras with 36.
The openers for St George were in scintillating form and overtook the 133 with 8.3 oves to spare. Fellow Spanish Over 40 International “Smudger” Smith scored 68 not out, whilst Steve Ellsden ended unbeaten on 29.
The win makes St George two wins out of two and looking odds on favourites for the T-Twenty title. They will be hoping for an elusive treble as they will be the side representing the Lanzarote league in the National Finals on mainland Spain in November.
