Current ECCL Premier League Champions Sporting Alfas started this years campaign with a maximum points victory over last years Runners-Up Madrid United at the Woodbridge Oval last weekend.
Batting first the team from the capital struggled against the econimical Alfas bowling unit and were eventually bowled out for just 138 runs.
Paul Taylor continues to be as accurate as ever with his left arm spin bowling and he took a couple of wickets for just 11 runs. He was well supported by the former first team captain Kevin Laundon, who also took two wickets for 32 runs.
In reply, Alfas achieved their total with consumate ease, surpassing the Madrid United score with six wickets to spare. Adam Algar set the wheels in motion with a well crafted half century and Faran Afzal saw his side home with a fine 36 not out.
Alfas secured maximum points from the game whilst Madrid United had to settle for four points from the encounter.
