Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 205 for 6 beat Levante C C 156 for 7
Batting first in the second match of the day SACC set about the Levante attack and runs came rapidly but also costing wickets, Crompton was on the charge and reached 27 in two and a bit overs before giving Fareed an hand warming chance that the player held on to with a look of delight.
J Perman giving his wicket away to Rhys Morgan who we are led to believe had never taken a wicket in his career, removing the Spanish youngsters middle stump with a well positioned full toss. 40 -2 from 4. Alger returned to the middle and with Muddaser took the score to 82 before Muddaser gave Ceaser a chance and the keeper took it of the wily bowling of Eaton. Fletcher came and went showing non of the resolve in his first knock.
Muñoz and Alger showing why they are Spain’s main pair and the score Raced along to 168 before Muñoz followed his junior counterpart Perman and walked by a full toss from Pickford who danced his way around the world after claiming the Spanish Skipper as his first ever victim. With 3 overs left and Alger needing less than 10 to reach his ton Laundon pushed the ball into gaps to give the player his glory, whoops, Alger was shocked by a straight one from Jay Singh and bowled on 92.
Bash Ali joined Laundon and left the Chairman sat watching as a few mighty wafts of the bat amounted to nothing and the innings fizzled out on 205-8.
In reply Levante scored 156 for 7 in their 20 overs. Rob Pickford was again the pick of the Levante batsmen top scoring with 48 before he was run out. There were also notable contributions from Azhar Abbas (23) and Cesare Samparo (21 not out) as the visitors lost out by 39 runs.
Unfortunately, the Alfas second string did not do so well the following day against a strong Pinatar side in ECCL Division Two.
Alfas batting first were all out for 60 and Pinatar chased the total down for a loss of just three wickets. Pinatar took 19 points from the game whilst Alfas took a meagre two points from their first loss in that league of the season.
Alfas 205 for 6 beat Levante 156 for 7 by 39 runs.
