SPORTING ALFAS V LEVANTE – T-TWENTY MATCH ONE

SPORTING ALFAS 125 FOR 3 BEAT LEVANTE 123 FOR 8

Levante travelled to Albir for a double header against the mighty SACC 1st X1. Asked to bat first in the opening encounter and that is where the afternoon started to go wrong. Although when Alfas´s Skipper opened the bowling and the opposition amassed 18 runs from it they possibly thought otherwise for a few precious moments. Wickets started to fall as Mohib found his range and removed Pickford, who normally fills his boots on the tranquil pitch, caught low down at first slip by Chairman Kev.

Fareed followed in the same over this time attempting to hit the ball into the road but tamely plopping the ball back to the bowler. 35 for 2. The introduction of Crompton brought about another double wicket over as A Abbas watched bemused as the ball cleaned up his off stump whilst shouldering the bat. Eaton then nicked one to Ward behind. 57-4 became 66 – 5 when Morgan picked out Muñoz from the same bowler. Mean while at the other end Hunt was going about his business nicely and the score board kept ticking over. Q Abbas came in and spanked a couple off long handle shots before B, Ali came on and dismissed him well caught by Mohib, Crisp followed misreading one that clean bowled him Ali again taking credit.

Then to round off a good day Ali ran out Ceaser off the final ball. Sporting Alfas would not be troubled by a below average 123 total. Fletcher the new T20 specialist moaned and groaned his way to replace Laundon at the top and gave himself every chance of impressing the crowd with some well placed lazy lobs, reaching 34 before the Levante players realised the plot and placed Pickford in the strike zone. Crompton gave his wicket away after the ball returned rather damp from the pond lifting the ball to mid on with Sampelo taking the catch, Alger returned to the middle, a position he is definitely enjoying, and set about the task with relative ease until Q Abbas surprised him with a shorter one that had him caught. Muddaser and Muñoz closed out the win with Muñoz top scoring with 38 and Muddaser placing the ball into gaps to give his Captain the strike.
