Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 253 for 1 beat Nomads C.C. 106 for 6
On a very wet Saturday Morning, no play looked likely except for the weather forecast suggesting 1.30pm sunshine and for the first time in Spanish History they got it spot on the heavy rain stopped and the ducks waddled off, a game looked likely thanks to a lot of hard work to clear a few puddles a 2.45pm 30 over game was on the cards even if the visitors were already on their third pints.
Pennick and Brook started as they finished off another unbroken 50 wicket partnership before Pennick walked off with a bad back from all the sweeping of the water.Young Adam Algar came in at 3 and looked every part the cricketer before he and Brook Reached 50 a piece and retiring . Gary Crompton looked in good form smashing 69 off 44 balls including 5 x 6s and a little cameo at the end by Fletcher ot SACC to 253/1 off only 30 overs .
Cricket World Nomads for some strange reason changed their batting order about and the SACC attack of Roper and Mohib put about demolishing the top order with 5 wickets between them . With an average age of 29 and the oldest player only being 40, SACC looked very much an active and enthusiastic outfit.
For the Nomads only Tom Liverside scored 47 not out with skipper Brockton kicking away balls in the last over to deny him his 50. Roper finished with 3/16 and Nomads finished on 106 for 6 . A great evening was enjoyed in the club afterwards with an 11pm finish.
