Sporting Alfas got their league campaign off to a fine start by securing maximum points in a comfortable victory over Levante.
Batting first, the Valencian based club got off to a bad start and were struggling at 50 for 4 before a 73 run partnership between Murphy and Scott Burchill brought the visitors back into the game.
However, teenager Kieran Perman dismissed the pair and Kyle Davies in a fine spell that saw him end with figures of 3-37 off his full allocation of overs. Levante were finally all out for 209, falling just 14 runs short of a further batting point.
In reply, Levante’s spearhead bowler Bruno Nunges got Pennick caught behind early on and when Algar fell for 17 with the score on 47 the visitors felt they had an opportunity to spring a surprise.
A 122 partnership between Spanish Academy products Joel Brook and Christian Munoz Mills soon dampened Levante spirits and ensured the home side would avoid a potential bannana skin.
Brook got out for 61 with the score on 169, leaving Munoz and Crompton to see the hosts home with 7 wickets and overs to spare.
Sporting Alfas (20 points) 211 for 3 beat Levante (4 point) 209 all out.
