Sporting Alfas Cricket Club Sporting Alfas 1st X1 97 for 1 beat Levante 95 for 10
Batting first Levante Cricket Club never got to grips with the SACC attack, a series of near misses with the bat enabled 6 overs to go by before, in the 7th, Lucas(13) pushed a well timed 2 followed by a wild hack that that reached the third man boundary, then smashed a cover drive to reach the fence then another hack that saw the ball edged back onto his stumps, a very interesting over from Roper J.
Mohib from the other end must have wondered why the batsman did not edge to the eager slip fielders, but from the slips perspective the batsmen got no where near the ball, playing their shot well after the ball was safely in the keeper’s hands, Mohib´s figures of 0-6 from 5 excellent overs take a bit of explaining to the fast bowler who worked so hard.
Jack Perman on loan from the 2nds, got the chance to shine and his spin did the trick, 1st over a maiden, then 3 for 21 from his allowed 7 over spell, Burchell(12), Murphy(2) and the hard working opener Eaton who had kept the bowlers interested for an hour playing down or around 49 balls then deciding Jack was hittable played it high to J Roper at cow corner, a sad end to great effort. Faran, also, could not believe his bad luck only getting 3 for 18 for his hard work. Taylor, has always, bamboozled the Levante team, except Morgan who played the ever green bowler with great patience, 1 for 5 from 5 was Taylor´s reward. Kyle Roper bowled 3 great overs without luck, showing yet again that SACC have a future star, 8-0.
His older brother starting his third spell from his favorite end mopped up the remaining wickets of Nisar Mughal caught by Algar and Jagwinder in the same fashion caught by Perman. West left high and dry without facing a ball. 95 all out. Tea time was enjoyed between innings which made so much sense both teams exhausted in the 40+ degree heat.
Bhatti and Laundon opened for SACC and saw the score reach 50 from 9 with Bhatti reaching 29 before walking past a moon ball from fifth change bowler West.
Alger Joined Laundon and the pair took the team home to an important 20 point win to keep SACC´s title hopes alive. Algar 16* Laundon 42*.
Sporting Alfas I (20 points) beat Levante 1 point by 9 wickets.
