Sporting Alfas I continued their march towards retaining their league title with an emphatic victory over rivals Madrid I.
Madrid arrived at the Woodbridge Oval for their weekend double header on the East Coast and batted first on a scorching day.
Unfortunately, they found an Alfas team intent on finishing the game early and they were all out for just 86 in just the 20th over of their 45 over allocation. Solanki top scored with 24 and opener Healey mustered 21. A late cameo by former Spanish international Irshan Khan (13 not out) earned the visitors a token batting point.
Without doubt, the standout bowler for Alfas was Kieran Perman who celebrated his first ever five wicket haul for the Sporting Alfas firsts, finally finishing with figures of 6-16 in what was a classy display of pace bowling.
Alfas were never troubled in chasing down the low total with openers Brook and Shazad put on 85 for the first wicket before Brook was caught on 47 just two runs shy of victory. Fellow opener Shazad ended the day on 30 not out in what was a near perfect performance for the league leaders.
With four wins out of four Alfas look odds on favourites for a place in this years National Finals at the end of the year.
Sporting Alfas I (20 points) beat Madrid I (1 point) by 9 wickets.
