The Sporting Alfas first XI went to the top of the Twenty/20 tale with back to back wins against Madrid based Alcorcon on Saturday. Club chairman Kevin Laundon reports on both games

Alcorcon won the toss and batted first, Laundon and Fell opened the bowling but the latter had a dreadful first over when Tariq spanked 23 runs from it. Pennick came on and bowled his usual mixture of speed and slow balls to fool the oposition batsmen but he did not grab a wicket despite a super spell.

Laundon got Tariq caught by Waqar then bowled Malik to make it 2 for 59 from 7. Fletcher replaced him and got Abdul caught first ball by Brown. 3 for 62 from 9. Fell returned and bowled a good spell removing Mazhie and Hasan for only 13 more runs from his last 3 overs 109 for 6 after 17. Spencer and Taylor finished off the bowling 128 for 6 from 20.

Spencer and Pennick got SACC off to a good start with 60 runs from 6 overs, before Pennick fell foul of the umpire and was given out Lbw. In the eigth over Spencer played around one that kept unusually low and things looked a little harder for the Alfas team has two new bats in the middle, Fletcher and Laundon set about getting the final 60 runs, but when Fletcher fell with the score on 95 a tight finish looked on, a run out in the 15th over, and then Pakiem got bowled in the 19th leaving Laundon and Fell needing 3 runs from the final over, 3 singles secured the win.
SACC 15 points Alcorcon 5.

In the second game SACC batted first and lost Pennick in the 2nd over, Spencer looked good again until a lucky bounce gave the away side the chance of a run out which they took with glee. 33 for 2 from 4. Fletcher and Dawes set about the bowlers and the score rushed to 102 after 10 when Dawes fell to Mazhir caught by Adeel. Laundon and Fletcher then carried on and took the score to 201 without further loss. 201 from 20 for 3 wickets helped tremendously by 42 extras.

Alcorcon came in and after Laundon removed Tariq 4th ball caught by Dawes, wickets fell regularly with Fell the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 11, Taylor 2 for 36, Spencer 2 for 12 and Fletcher 1 for 6 all chipped in to leave Alcorcon all out for 75 with only Malik reaching double figures.
SACC 20 points Alcorcon 1
