Sporting Alfas Cricket Club win the Costa Blanca league division 1
On Sunday 11-09-2011 La Manga overwhelmed Alcorcon in a terribly one sided affair that ended Alcorcon´s push for the title..
Spòrting Alfas Cricket Club can now arrange a day of celebration as they win the title again after a years gap. This season as been by far the clubs most consistent although the team had to make many changes over the 4 month period,
Key players were unavailable in many games but the men asked to stand in did so in superb style, The team scored an average of 17.1 points out of a possible 20 in all 12 games, putting in a terrific performance against the strongest teams across Spain.
For those readers who do not follow the great game teams from Madrid, Valencia and La Manga contest the league title annually.
Making the Costa Blanca title very prestige’s. there is also a development league which Sporting Alfas CC also head at the moment but are under pressure from Madrid 2nd X1 who need to win their last 6 games to force Sporting Alfas into 2nd spot. Which will still be a marvelous achievement as SACC play at least 4 Junior players in every game.
Sporting Alfas also play many touring sides a season and this week we entertained Glenrothes and Four Oaks two teams joining forces to face the mighty SACC firsts.
Asking the visitors to set a total gave Captain Laundon great satisfaction when his team kept the opposition down to 222, even though 9 players had a bowl, proofing the depth SACC have when all are available, Crompton the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 30.
The SACC batsmen gave chase and reached the total after 31 overs of entertaining cricket, Nadeem and Howe both reaching 50 before gracefullygiving away their wickets. SACC welcome both players and cricket lovers at the Woodbridge Oval in Albir. further info please call Kevin on 637120660.
