SPAIN UNDER 19´S V ISRAEL UNDER

Israel v Spain at KWC2.
Israel won by 180 runs
Toss: Spain
 Israel 232-7 (50 overs) N Dokarker 68, J Evans 57
 Spain 52 (28.5 overs) S Kristi 4-10, S Waskar 3-13

Spain play the last match of the Under 19 tournament today, vying for a 5th place finish with Israel who finished third in Group B.

Spain have several players involved in the game that played in the exciting 5 run win in the ICC Europe Division 2 Under 17 tournament in Germany in 2008.

Ben Girling, Jake Sunderland, and Joel Brook were all part of that squad that secured 3rd place in that tournament by beating Israel that day in Bonn but Brook did not play in the match because of an injury sustained in the previous game when the Spanish had easily beat Gibraltar by 69 runs.

However it was not to be a repeat of 3 years ago as Israel were in the ascendency from the irst ball. The notched up the highest score against the tournament so far with one of the outstanding players of the tournament, Evans being among the runs again. His 57 was eclipsed by Dokarker who scored 68 as Israel finished with a mammoth total of 232 for 7.

This daunting prospect proved to be too much mentally and physically as spain crashed to 19 for 7 off 17 overs. A late rally brought their final total to 52 all out but they were easily beaten by 180 runs in the end

Spain finished 6th in the end and can be proud of their achievement in taking two wins from two associate nations who receive far more support financially from ICC than Spain do. Spain return home on Wednesday (3rd August)  and Cricket Espana thank them for their fine efforts in the Isle of Man during the course of the week.
