SPAIN´S PREMIER UMPIRE DELIVERS OFFICIALS COURSE IN MOROCCO
Spain´s Ron Graham, the countries sole representative on the ICC European Umpires Panel, recently tutored an introductory course in officiating to cricket lovers in Rabat, Morocco.
The opportunity came about due to the links forged by Cataluyna Cricket Club and the director of Spanish cricket, George Wambeek during their visit to play the Moroccan national side earlier in the season.
The majority of the candidates were members of the the Moroccan National team and their enthuisiasm to learn compensated for the potential language barriers to some, as the course was delivered in English.
The excellent IT facilities at the College Ahmed Neijai in Ternara were also first class and helped Ron to inform the class, on amongst other things, the basic dimensions of the cricket field, umpires ettiquette and the general rules and laws of the game.
The course proved a resounding success with all parties and helped further forge links between the Moroccan and Spanish cricket authorities.
