Last weekend the Spanish National Team had their latest training session at the Woodbridge Oval. Under the guidance of Head Coach Bobby Denning and various regional coaches the players had a team bonding weekend as part of their build up to the ICC World Europe Division Two Championships that are being played in Sweden this coming August.
The first day of the get together the squad worked on various batting, fielding and bowling drills and then finished the weekend on the Sunday with two Twenty-Twenty matches against Valencia Stars.
In the first match the National side batted first and scored 215 from their allocated overs. Openers Nisar Ahmed and Awais Ahmed scored 78 and 46 respectively and Christian Munoz Mills continued the good start by notching an unbeaten half century in double quick time. Valencia were dismissed for 168 in reply to give the National team a comfortable 47 run victory.
In match two the National side agreed to bat second and the Stars posted a decent total. Experimenting with the batting line up but keeping the same openers La Seleccion needed sixty plus runs with around 40 balls remaining. The middle order came through the test in fine style to make it two wins from two and end the weekend on a positive note.
Thanks go out to Sporting Alfas Cricket Club for being fantastic hosts to the National Side for the weekend.
