NETHERLANDS 257 FOR 5 BEAT BY SPAIN 63 ALL OUT BY 194 RUNS
Spain’s third match in the event was at Bishop Stortford and against one of the hot favourities for promotion, The Netherlands.
Spain bowled first and amazingly had the Dutch struggling at nought for two with Riaz bagging another two wickets in his first over. From that point on the Netherlands took control, with Spain having no answer to the batting of Etman. The Dutch youngster hit a sparkling 140 not out off 170 balls in an innings that included eleven fours and one six.
He initially had little support as Spain took three more wickets but an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership of 147 with Jain (61 not out) took the final total for the Netherlands to 257 for five.
In reply Spain struggled against the accuracy of the Dutch bowling. Only the two Charlie’s (Hunt and Rumistrzewicz) could manage double figures as the team were bowled out for 63 in the 27th over.
Spain now have a rest day before taking on Denmark in the final Group Stage game. The team will require a victory in order to play any further games in the competition.
