It was announced today that Spain will host the T20 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier. The event will take place at the wonderful Desert Springs ground between the 6th and 12th of September.
Netherlands and Scotland have already secured their spot. The two other participants will be finalised at the begining of June. The Division Two group phase will take place between the 29th May to 2nd June 2023 in Jersey with the top two teams moving on to Spain in the autumn.
France, Germany, Italy, Jersey, Sweden and Turkey are the six teams fighting for the two available spots in September. The top two teams in the Desert Springs competition will then qualify for the World Cup global qualifier .
CEO of Spain John Howden said on the announcement. “It is fantastic to once again to have the opportunity to host a major ICC European tournament. After the success of the ICC T20I pentagonal Winter Women’s tournament at Desert Springs last November that involved Spain, Norway, Swedem, Isle of Man and Italy it is great to welcome the more established women’s teams to Almeria later on in the year. We look forward to welcoming the four countries in September”.
The other two ICC Europe events in 2023 will be the Mens qualifier and the Mens Under 19 qualifier and they will take place in Scotland and Holland respectively.
