The Spanish National team have been drawn in Group A of next years ICC Mens T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier and will head to Belgium next summer.
Group A will take place between the 26th June and the 5th of July and will be split into two Groups of four. Joining Spain in one section will be their Iberian rivals Portugal, the islanders Malta and Israel. The other section of the group includes the hosts Belgium, Denmark, Bulgaria and Gibraltar.
The event format is two groups of four, followed by semi finals and play offs. Upon receiving news of the draw, the National team coach Corey Rutgers said ” Very much looking forward to the sub – regional qualifiers in 2022, after the previous few years being canceled due to corona. Very happy with the group draw and returning to Belgium, having good knowledge of the grounds and the cricket there will be helpful to us. We have a busy 2022 and this tournament will fit perfectly in our program. I look forward to how our squad will perform in this qualifier ”
