A Select XI will play the Tom Maynard Trust Academy at Desert Springs on February 22nd, in what as become a regular contest for Cricket Espana and the county professionals.
The Spanish side comprises of youngsters from the East Coast and Central Region whilst this year’s intake of Trust players includes Rob Keogh of Northants and Billy Root of Notts.
The two T-Twenty games will be the inaugural matches on the new grass wickets at the Almeria venue and the two matches are scheduled to start at 11 am and 3.30 pm respectively.
ECCL League Champions Sporting Alfas supply the majority of the side with five players. Skipper Christian Munoz Mills is accompanied by Adam Alger, Joel Brook, and the Perman Brothers, Jack and Kieran in the squad of twelve.
Another set of brothers, Akash and Ravi Panchal of Pinatar are also selected along with team mate Vikash Singh. The fourth representative of the Pirates is Paul Hennessy, who had a prolific season with both bat and ball in last years ECCL campaign.
Teenager Charlie Hunt will be behind the stumps and his La Manga companion Tom Vine is also included in the team selected by manager Gary Crompton.
The final selection of the squad is newcomer Luis Hermida. Luis is travelling from Australia where he plays cricket for Warehouse Reps in Queensland.
The 5th Tom Maynard Trust Cricket Academy pre season trip to Desert Springs is led by a top class coaching team of Matt Maynard, Ian Harvey, Mark Wallace, plus support from Jamie Dalrymple, Mark Garaway, and Dean Conway.
The group will undertake a week of nets, technical training, strength and conditioning work plus group sessions on player development – the camp ends with 2 games against a Spanish Select Eleven on the 22nd February at the fantastic new Desert Springs cricket ground.
