The bowlers were on top this weekend in a low scoring game between La Manga and Valencia Green. Valencia Green lost the toss and Spanish all-rounder Matt Sherry soon prooved an handful with the ball, taking 5 wickets as La Manga restricted Valencia Green to just two batting points and 134 all out.

In reply La Manga soon were in trouble, in he face of a fiery opening attack of Faisal and Asad. An aggressive pell from Faisal in particular left the local side with no answers to his hostile bowling and they could only muster one batting point in their reply of 78 all out. Indeed, only Rubles resistance prevented further embarrassment for the La Manga batting who were reeling at 35 for 7 at one stage.

Faisal ended up with 6 for 31 and  Asad 2 for 25 as Valencia Green run out comfortable winners by 56 runs. Unfortunately both games this weekend in the Northern Section of the league fell foul to rain and they have been rescheduled for the 5th and 6th of July respectively.

La Manga Report

La Manga Crash To Valencia.

Report By Slogger.

This was the top of the table clash with both teams needing to be on top of their game to keep the upper hand.
The toss was made and won by Captain Neil who decided to insert the visitors.
The previous days rain had pretty much dried up but the track still seemed a little damp that and the fact there was a fair amount of cloud cover the opening bowlers were getting the ball to swing both ways.
In his pre-match chat Neil said it would be important to hold on to all the catches. This proved to be the case as the Valencian batsmen decided to take the airiel route to score their runs.
With the opening bowlers on top form and the opening bats trying to hit every ball out of the ground, wickets started to fall and indeed most of them were catches.
Matt Sherry had a fine opening spell  taking 3 wickets for 17 of 5 overs,he then proceeded to take two catches in the field along with Reg Goldsmith and captain Neil, two each, one of them an outstanding bit of slip fielding.
With the first change of bowling came Ruble taking a further 3 wickets and the” young lad” Micheal taking 2.With the catches still being held all round the park Valencia were all out for 134,8 catches in total.Sherry the best of the bowling with 5 for 21 of 7.2 overs.
After the short break for tea and sandwiches it was the turn of La Manga to bat.
It was a really bad start to the innings the first 5 batsmen were out for 26  after only 9 overs of the allotted 45 only Ruble Singh had any answers to the swing bowling of Faisal and Asad top scoring with 38. With nobody else getting into double figures La Manga were all out in the 18th over for the lowest score of the season of 78.Losing the game by 56 runs. The best of the bowling for the visitors was from Faisal 6 for 31 and Asad 2 for 25.
A game to forget for La Manga but we must put this result out of our heads with our local rivals Mojacar our next game on Saturday 14th June to look forward to.
