Big Cricketing and Rugby News for Turre,Spain

Turre Cricket and Rugby Club is finally here,  This week Turre sports minister, Turre CC chairman and Carboneras Rugby club shook hands and the last stages of bringing to the area a Cricket and Rugby facility.

Funding has been supplied through  Cricket Espana and ultimately the ICC (world crickets controlling body) plus Turre town halls` continued commitment to world sports in our area.

This year will see a year of cricket development to build the membership and teams. Both Albox CC and Turre CC will join forces this year to bring the area both friendly and competitive cricket and will play against invited teams from all over Spain .

An exiting 8 aside local competition

This will be aided by the commencement of a fun packed local 8 aside cricket league with local pubs/businesses competing. Teams will be invited to play in the league over the summer  for the cricket development cup sponsored by a well known Spanish company. The matches will be played over 15 overs and have all the hype associated with the explosion of 20/20 cricket. Businesses will be encouraged to offer prizes and benefit from mentions in the media. The 8 aside league will finish with a proposed gala dinner including prizes for best players/ most improved player/ funniest moments, etc.

Directions and facilities

The club is located 1.5km before the town of Turre on the site of the old Turre football pitch. The site benefits from the recent completion of a 30 bedroom hotel, restaurant  bar and  swimming pool area and will serve as club house and accommodation for future touring sides.

Administration-The cricket club will be administered in conjunction with Cricket Espana and Turre Council sports department guide lines, and managed by Turre CC. Any body interested in helping whether umpiring, scoring or assisting the Turre CC management is welcome.

Ongoing development -Rome wasn’t built in a day and as such a programme of future development to aid pitch quality, youth programme and special events is being scheduled.

Membership Fees- This year personnel membership will be free, a small fee of 5 euros per player per match to cover equipment and drinks will apply to the 8 aside competition.

Rubgy Club. The rugby season this year has finished, however preparation and training will continue throughout the summer. Next year the Cabras Rugby Club will have a full schedule of fixtures and are looking to build a competitive team to represent our area. All new players, officials and ref`s are welcome to join.
