Pinatar Pirates took another step closer to securing the ECCL Division Two title with a 30 run victory over Torrevieja CC at La Manga Resort last weekend.
Invited to bat after losing the toss the Pirates made a total of 198 all out, falling just two runs shy of a fourth batting point. J Singh hit a fine half century and other notable entries in the scorebook for Pinatar were S Singh and L Singh, who made 45 and 21 respectively. Cullshaw bagged four wickets for Torrevieja who would have been happy at the interval with their work in the field.
Unfortunately for Torry, their batting was unable to match their bowling performamce and they were bowled out for just 168. Opener Rahul was the main threat, scoring 59, and at 83 for 3 it looked like his team might just overtake the Pirates total. However, a mid order and lower end collapse saw the last seven wickets fall for just 81 runs. Akash Panchal with three wickets was instrumental in creating that demise and Pinatar finally took 18 points from the game to Torrevieja’s 8 points.
Pinatar 198 all out beat Torrevieja 168 all out by 30 runs.
