La Manga played host to the contest between Pinatar and Madrid United and once again it was a batters paradise as both teams scored over 300 to ensure over 1300 runs were scored in the two ECCL Premier League games played yesterday.
Batting first Pinatar had two centurions in their final total of 344 for 5. Opener Akash Panchal crafted a fine 106 whilst Happy Singh hit exactly 100 before retiring due to heat exhaustion. Qadar toiled valiantly for the team from the capital and took three wickets for his endeavours.
In reply, United were well in contention for the majority of their innings. At the top of the order Shehzad hit 47 but the innings of the day for United came from Taqueer Hussain who hit the highest score with a sparkling 136 not out.
Unfortunately for Madrid he ran out of partners at the end as his side’s innings finally closed on 309 all out, some 46 runs short of what would have been an amazing run chase.
With games in hand Pinatar still have a chance of overtaking Alfas at the top of the league but it will require maximum points and consistency until the end of the season to claw the title away from the reigning champions.
Pinatar (20 points) beat Madrid United (8 points) by 45 runs.
