Both Levante and Pinatar have put two teams into the various ECCL Leagues this season and on this occasion it was the Pinatar side that came out victorious.
Batting first the Levante innings was all about one man, Shakeel, the Levante opener who carried his bat with a remarkable 132 not out. Three other batsman managed double figures but the second highest score belonged to Naveed Anwar who bagged 16 runs for his team. The final total of 203 for 9 never seemed likely to be enough, A lightening fast outfield and the strength of the Levante batting seemed to suggest Pinatar were overwhelming favourites for the win at the interval mark..
So it proved, as Pinatar passed the required total with seven wickets to spare in the 27th over. Paul Hennessy with a fine 62 and Akash Panchal with an unbeaten 42 were the outstanding batsmen in the Pinatar innings whilst Dave Tivey took two of the three Pinatar wickets to fall for the cost of just 19 runs.
Pinatar (19 points) beat Levante (5 points) by seven wickets.
