Pinatar Pirates made sure of the ECCL Division Two Title last weekend with a comprehensive victory over luckless Almazora.
Just requiring a draw to win the league in their inaugural season, the team from Murcia were always in control of the match and had little difficulty in securing the required points.
Almazora batted first and were all out for 112. George Wambeek took two of the wickets for just 14 runs to record the best bowling figures for the visitors.
In reply, Pinatar overtook the total with seven wickets in hand. The early loss of Kevin Buckley did little to dampen confidence and a solid second wicket partnership between G Singh and B Singh made a large dint in the required chase. G Singh was out with the score on 51 and B Singh was run out with victory in sight.
It was left to Elliot Banks and Sadwar to see Pinatar to victory and the celebrations started soon afterwards. Congratulations to Pinatar who ended up worthy champions of the ECCL Division Two League in their first ever campaign.
Pinatar Pirates (24 points) beat Almazora (3 points) by seven wickets.
