PakIcare CC beat Badalona Shaheen convincingly in the Final of the Liga Catalana 2019 to take their place in the National Finals, when they will play Levante CC, in November, for the Spanish National Championship..
Starting with an unprecedented 23 teams in one league the two finalists finished first and second respectively after their 22 league matches.
Shaheen batted first but were all out for just 101 in the 19th over. Only Ghulam Mustafa (27), Hamza Dar (14) and Dilawar Khan (17) reached double figures for Badalona, with extras being the second highest score in their teams total (23). For PakIcare Sikander took four wickets for just three runs in 17 balls to produce a match winning effort with the ball.
The PakIcare run chase was routine and they knocked off the total in the twelfth over for the loss of just two wickets. Openers Muhammad Babar and Abid Hanif scored 87 in nine overs for the first wicket partnership to snuff out any remote hopes of a Badalona victory.
Congratulations go to both sides on reaching the final and to the Cataluyna Cricket Association for completing such an ambitious league programme.
