Before todays play started Pak-I-Care were already confirmed for finals day, such was their dominance in Group B. However, it did not stop some exciting cricket for the minor placings between the other teams.
City Lions won their opening two matches over their two main rivals, Barna Royals and Ripoll Warriors. In game one the Royals scored 101 for 7 but a superb 55 off 24 balls from Kashif Shafi ensured an eight wicket victory for his team.
Shafi was again explosive with the bat in game two, hitting 35 off just 13 balls to help his side to a four wicket victory over Ripoll. Earlier, the Warriors had posted a competitive 102 for seven from their ten overs allocation. With these two victories they fended off the challenge of Barna, and leapfrogged over Ripoll to secure the groups runners up spot.
Barna Royals then won back to back games against Hira Sabadell and Pakcelona to end the event on a winning note and claimed third place. Shazad Khan (47) and Shafat Ali Syed (44) helped Royals to an 11 run victory over Pakcelona, and in the preceding game Shafat Ali Syed cracked 82 runs off just 33 balls. However, it was the bowling of Waqas Anwar (four wickets for five runs) that stole the show. That performance was instrimental in restricting the Hira total to just 79.
Fittingly, Pak-I-Care ending the proceedings in Group B with another win, this time at the expense of Hira. It was a close affair though, with the Pak-I-Care batting chasing down the Sabadell sides total of 86 with six wickets and three balls to spare.
