New Target CC made a winning debut by winning the 2017 Copa Laboral. The competition was organised by United Cricket Club to remember Labour Day. The one day tournament enabled the majority of workers to enjoy the five team competition.
Hosts United CC were joined by Olot Tigers, Empuriabrava, New Target CC and Garrotxa CC.
In the first match of the fifteen over competition Empuriabrava beat Olot Tigers by 35 runs. Empuriabrava batted first and scored 125 runs from their over allocation. In reply, the Tigers were all out for 90 runs.
In Match Two New Target CC beated United CC by four wkts. UCC batted first and posted 92 runs on the board in their innings. New Target hit 93 runs for the loss of just six batsmen.
Garrotxa then played Empuriabrava to see who would join New Target in the final. It was Empuriabrava who emerged victorious winning a close game by three wickets. Garrotxa batting first hit 95 runs but Empuriabrava overtook the required total with seven wickets down.
In the final New Target CC beat Empuriabrava CC by 5 wkts. Empuriabrava put 96 runs on the board and New Target CC chased the target down to claim a thrilling victory. New Target had another reason to celebrate because Harry Maan was named Man of The Tournament.
