NEW CRICKET CLUB ON THE COSTAS

PIRATES de PINATAR or PINATAR PIRATES

pinlog  On Bank Holiday Monday the newly formed Pinatar Pirates Cricket Club travelled up to Benidorm to play their first ever match against Sporting Alfas Cricket Club.

Winning the toss the Pirates decided to let the home side bat first, taking the opportunity to use 9 bowlers during Alfas innings from which they scored a respectable total of 171 for 6 wickets from 40 overs.

Bowlers G.Wambeek and V.Singh (both taking 2 – 31) led the way for the Pirates, but if it wasn’t for a brilliant catch from R.Singh to remove the dangerous Muñoz for 51, the total would certainly have been over 200.

Fuelled by a typically wonderful Alfas tea, the Pirates batsman went about their task with plenty of conviction. A superb first wicket stand of 107 between the experienced K.Buckley 50 and promising youngster R.Panchal 76 not out.

The Pirates needed just 23 overs to pass the winning target. It was a great start for the new club and playing their friendly rivals with whom they shared plenty of fun and laughter during this freindly match made the day even more memorable.

The Pirates have now also played their first home game at Pinatar Arena against a touring Team from Formby Cricket Club, and on this occasion the visitors were the winners.

The Pirates are a group of girls and boys who love anything to do with playing cricket, their home is the impressive Pinatar Arena in San Pedro, Anyone interested in playing,  age or standard does not matter come along and see us or you can find more details on the club on facebook
