NATIONWIDE HOUSE WIN THE T20 SERIES
Nationwide House of Swindon won the T20 series against Intellectuals last weekend by 3 games to 1 in the inaugural event at Bonalba, Alicante
In the first game Nationwide scraped home by just 13 runs to go 1-0 up in the 4 match series that was played over 2 days. Nationwide batted first and accrued 106 for 8. Intellectuals looked on course to take the first game but when Tanveer got out for 29 the home side lost their momentum to finish on 93 for 8, just shy of the required total.
Game 2 saw Intellectuals level the series by chasing down a target of 103 for 3. Tim Stanford with 22 not out, and Nation House guest David Coates (19) were the main reason for the home sides victory as their overtook the Nation House score with 2 wickets in hand.
Sunday, and game 3. Nation House batted first and scored 105 for 9 despite an excellent spell of bowling from Tommy Keeling that returned figures of 4-31 off his 4 overs. Again Intelectuals, batting second, fell short of their total, this time by 32 runs as they could only post 73 runs before being bowled out.
Needing to win the last game to square the series Intellectuals posted 99 for 6. Just shy of the average total for the weekend the score did not seem enough and so it proved as Nation House easily chased down their target with 8 wickets in hand.
Nation House took the series 3-1 but cricket at Bonalba was the winner as two fantastic days of the sport drew to a close. Intellectuals will welcome more touring teams to Bonalba, anyone interested in further information can contact CE or Laurence on Laurence.MCGARRY@oami.europa.eu
