The race to win the first ever Madrid regional league hotted up yesterday when Madrid United edged out Sonseca in the top of the table clash.
Sonseca won the toss and elected to bat. Their innings finally came to an end with 185 on the board. Irfan top scored for Sonseca whilst Mudassar and Ashraf took three wickets apiece.
In reply, Madrid United inched past the total set with two wickets to spare, and as a result, leapfrogged Sonseca at the top of the league. Tanveer was instrumental in chasing down the score with a well crafted 52, but the matchwinning innings came from Ashraf, who saw his team home with an unbeaten 51.
Both teams can still win the title but the win for Madrid United puts them in prime position with just one game each left to play.
