Madrid United will hold the bragging rights in the capital city for a short while after a decisive victory over local rivals Madrid last weekend in La Manga.
After winning the toss United elected to bat and posted a competitive but not ungettable total of 213 all out off 40.1 overs. Top score for United was opener Waheed with a well crafted 63, whilst Rizwan Shah (50) and Asif (43) both contributed to the final score. The fact that they failed to use nearly ten overs of their innings must have been a major concern for United at the interval but their local rivals batted poorly in the second half of the game to muster only 127 all out in 29.1 overs.
Both sides will have to improve dramatically in the batting department if they want to climb up the Division One table and have an impact on the league this season. United took 18 points from the game whilst Madrid took just 7 points. Tommorrow Madrid play another Madrid based side Alcorcon, so they soon have the chance to show signs of improvement.
