The top of the table clash between Madrid United and Sonseca ended up being a one-sided affair with United winning easily by 160 runs,
Batting first the side from the capital scored 257 for 8 from their over allocation. Openers Jimmy Ashraf and Tasawar both scored 73 runs each in a fine opening stand. Tasawar scored at a faster pace but Ashraf still remained at the crease not out at the end of the Madrid innings.
Sonseca’s Waqas bowled wel for the home side and returned to the pavillion with figures of two for 51 from six overs.
Sonseca’s reply was subpar and Madrid United never looked in danger of not capturing maximum points from the contest. Sonseca were finally all out for 97. It would have been much worse if it had not been for a swashbuckling performance from Javed who hit a quickfire half century for Sonseca. His innings was well appreciated by the spectators and it included five sixes and five fours.
Madrid United take 20 points from the game, whilst Sonseca take five points. Unfortunately news of this weekends game has just come through that Sonseca are unable to field a team against Madrid II. As a result Madrid will receive 20 points and Sonseca minus 20 points.
