MADRID UNITED SEE OFF SAN FULGENCIO CHALLENGE
Madrid United kept up their winning streak with a competent victory over a sprirted San Fulgencio side. Fulgencio won the toss and decided to bat. Opener Blann has been in great form this season, but he has always seen his opening partner depart quickly and today was no exception.
Dangerman Blann managed 22 this time round but his innings was eclipsed by young Adam Algar who played a mature innings beyond his years to top score with 35. However, the Madrid United bowlers were always on top and skittled SFL out for just 109 runs. Shah was the pick of the United bowlers, finishing with figures of 4 for 13 off 6 overs.
In reply,United knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets in 21 overs. At 68 for 5 the game was evenly balanced but a 37 sixth wicket partnership between Alvi and Ahmed turned the game Madrid´s way. When Alvi was finally out for 32 with the score on 105 the game was almost over. It was left to Ahmed to score the winning run to secure the victory for Madrid and surge them up the development league total.
