Madrid United won the latest game in the ECCL Premier League when they saw off the challenge of the La Manga first team with a convincing 173 run victory.
United batted first and gained maximum batting points by notching up 288 runs for the loss of nine wickets from their over allocation. Waheed top scored with 83 and he was well supported by Asif who made 65. There was a noteworthy bowling performance from teenager Robbie Williams, who took 3 for 33 in his seven over spell.
With many of the La Manga players stepping up from La Manga Kings to play for their premier team for the very first time the Madrid United total looked a tough ask from the word go. So it proved, as La Manga were bowled out for just 115 in 31.4 overs. Akash Panchal did manage a half century for the Murcia club but the honours went to the Madrid United bowler Tasawar, who bagged a hat trick, and finished with figures of 4-15.
Madrid United gained maximum points, whilst La Manga took five points from the game. La Manga’s next match with Alcorcon is unfortunately cancelled with Alcorcon unable to field a side, so La Manga receive 20 points and Alcorcon -20 points towards their league total.
