After the jubilation of their first ever league win last time out Triskell Taverners were brought back down to earth by Madrid United II, who won a low scoring game by 78 runs.
Batting first, United struggled on a difficult pitch and could only manage 121 all out off 16 overs. Paul Buffery was the architect of United’s downfall, taking five wickets for just 13 runs off four overs.
At the interval Triskell were feeling confident of reaching their target but a woeful batting performance saw the home side skittled out for just 43 runs in just 16 overs, and none of their batsmen reaching double figures. For Madrid United, Rizwan put in a very useful spell of bowling, bagging five wickets for just 17 runs.
Madrid United now climb off the bottom of the table and go to the top in a league that looks like being very competitive, and in which every team is capable of beating each other.
